There is no mechanism to allow a user to color individual pieces of a PNG within Illustrator. Adjust the color values and then click OK. Unless you want this converted to a vector format which is probably not that easily doable with a single step like an image trace in AI youll probably do this quicker in Photoshop but keep it in PNG format - even better if the PNG is transparent.

I changed my 8-bit transparent backgroundpng image file from indexed color to RGB color in Photoshop CC and dragged it from my desktop into an opened Adobe Illustrator CC ai file. You can press V on your keyboard to activate this tool. You can then select File and Export from the menu to convert the part of the image you want to convert.
