If you still are unable to ping Open the virtual network editor and check if you are using the same VMnet adapter for both the VMs this adapter should be present in the host machines network adapters as well. Also you can Update your gradle version in project level gradle. I was unable to connect to the domain but was able to ping and work with other devices using ip addresses hostnames were no-go.

Editing the hosts file was a temporary solution but doing this for every network device and being unable to gpupdate was kinda frustrating. Also you can Update your gradle version in project level gradle.
